We refer to a range of Consultant Endocrinologists, Consultant Surgeons, Counselling Psychologists and Voice and Communication experts. Below are some contact details, although we are happy to refer to any colleague who is suitably qualified that you or your GP prefer. You are advised to undertake your own enquires directly and contacts are listed for information.
Dr Peter Hammond
Consultant Endocrinologist
Dr Hammond has been endocrinology lead for the Leeds Regional Gender Identity Service since 2007 and is on the Gender Recognition Panel’s list of gender specialists. He has considerable experience in balancing hormone treatment so that clients’ expectations can be met as effectively and safely as possible.

I have been affiliated as Endocrinologist to the Northern Region Gender Dysphoria Service (NRGDS) since 2010.
I have been a Consultant Endocrinologist and university Senior Lecturer in Newcastle-upon-Tyne since 1999 and have published over 200 academic papers. I have been tasked by Society for Endocrinology to drafted UK guidance for the management of hypogonadism in males (published in the journal Clinical Endocrinology in 2021) and in younger women (projected publication year: 2022).

He has also been instrumental in the development of the Cheshire and Mersey Adult Gender Collaborative (CMAGIC) pilot for NHS England providing specialist services for trans and non-binary people on Cheshire and Merseyside.

I graduated from Newcastle Medical School, after completing a diploma in Human Sciences at Durham University. Prior to training as a doctor, I spent ten years in the pharmaceutical industry.
I have over a decade of NHS experience as a general physician and a further 5 years in higher specialty training to qualify as a Consultant Endocrinologist.

The starting point for those seeking help in this area is voice coaching and outcomes for voice and communication skills alone are excellent. Voice surgery is not part of the NHS pathway and often not necessary and if you do wish to consider this please undertake careful research.
